Calm Your Dog in Stormy Day
Dog can be very restless in stormy days; it is natural and very instinctive behavior. Back in their wildlife thunder is a sign of potential danger so they’ll try to find a shelter before it happens.
It's not so easy to calm a dog in stormy day, because there are three main reasons that scare your dog, the thunder, the lightning, or the atmosphere change. It is your task to find out which one causing your dog to feel threatened, and then apply the desensitization accordingly.
To know the real culprit, try to watch your dog before the rain, if they seems restless, trying to find a place to hide, tremble or even showing destructive behavior before the rain and before any thunder or lightning, then the reason is atmospheric changes.
If the dog show the sign when they hear the thunder while ignoring the light, then your dog scared of the loud and sudden noise of the thunder, and if the sign happens when they see the flashing light of a thunder then she just doesn't feel comfortable with the light.

7 Tips to Train Yorkie Faster
Training a Yorkie can be quite challenging sometimes, although they are so energetic (which is good because it'll allow you to train for longer period compared to the less energetic one), Yorkie are just so playful creature and tend to lose their concentration fast, this makes them somewhat harder to train because they feel bored so quickly with the repetition.
Once they feel bored, they just won't listen. This can be quite defiant and just plain stubborn each time you try to teaches them something. I've dealt with such Yorkie before, and after some time I found quick tips to help me dealing with this problem.

Housebreaking an Older Dog
Housebreaking is easy if you start it from the puppy hood, and I've talks about this before in housebreaking a puppy. But not everyone adopt a puppy, especially if you adopt it from an animal shelter. Although animal shelter will try to provide proper basic training and vaccination for each dog they put on adoption list, sometimes you still find some dogs that haven't housebroken yet. How to deal with this?

Obedience and the Illusion of Control
Being the pack leader is not necessary to be the most dominant, a dominant leader tend to use obedience training to control their dog. But a true leadership key to earn good behaved dog is using the obedience training to "communicate" your idea about what acceptable and what not then alter it to a more acceptable by your community.
From this point alone you can get two distinct results. If you use obedience training to control your dog from doing something, it'll rob their natural intuition and becomes very unconfident to express their idea in their way. But if you use obedience training to communicate your idea and provide a solution about what to do, it'll teach them how to behave in a way that acceptable for you.

Treating and Preventing Ticks
Ticks are small pest that can attack your dog and spread disease like lyme. Some other risk also involved in ticks infestation; blood loss, inflammation, allergic reaction and ticks paralysis.
How Ticks Transmit to a Host
Unlike flies or mosquito, ticks cannot fly. They cannot jump, but they'll climb to the host once they located a suitable host that comes in contact with them.
Once transmitted to a suitable host, they will try to find a perfect place to start feeding and breeding, the breeding usually done in the host.
The attack method is classic, they will cut a hole in the host skin and suck the blood, and then they'll secrete some substance to make their mouth stick stronger in the host skin, once this happens the removal will be quite painful for the dog.

Cocker Spaniel and Corkie Breed
Cocker Spaniel
This breed used to be a hunting dog in the UK, and then in 1873 AKC recognize this breed. But since early 20th century American Cocker Spaniel breed with some physical difference, the term of American Cocker Spaniel and English Cocker Spaniel used to differentiate the sub-breed.
The real origin of the breed is still a mystery, but most likely comes from Spain from the word "spaynels" that found on 14th century writing called Livre de Chasse by Gaston III of Foix-Béarn.
